Phil Stephens - Mystical Legends Guide Service The day started at 4:45AM When I arrived at Blue Creek Boat Launch Phil already had the boat lined up and ready to roll. We began by pulling divers with bait. Right off the bat we had a couple of take downs by they didn't stick. Then, WHAM... I get a solid take down and the fish it HOT!!! A beautiful 12lb fish that was as acrobatic as I've ever seen for a steelhead. After a while we switched to free drifting, for which I must say Phil is one of the best I've seen. A combination of maintaining the boat and presenting the bait just right shows why he's an expert. He is constantly working the boat to keep us "in the zone" and always has a new rod ready for those pesky break-offs. Phil managed to hook up twice and we managed a great day when the fishing was considered slow. The great news for others... the fishing is just starting to pick up! Phil is a workhorse and knows the river up and down from the countless hours he's put on it. He's extremely organized and very detail oriented. I beleive it's it work ethic and attention to detail which makes him stand out as a truly outstanding Guide! And on top of that, a very fun guy to fish with!
